Food for skin part one

Food for skin part one

Many people spend years of their lives trying to figure out the secret to perfect skin. While skin is on the outside of our bodies, it is often a reflection of how we treat and what we put into our bodies. For this reason, it is important to consider treating our bodies’ right and consuming the right foods in order to promote healthy skin. Certain foods have the ability to promote skin health and reduce acne blemishes. It is, however, vital to remember that everyone is different in how their skin reacts to different foods and substances. Our metabolisms all run differently, and typically every person has a different amount of physical activity per day. These and other factors also play a huge role in affecting the skin’s health. To learn about the types of foods that both help and hurt skin in fighting acne, keep reading below.

Food has the ability to help or hurt our skin. When food hurts our skin, it typically causes acne, blemishes and breakouts. The saying ‘You are what you eat’ could not be truer. Although some people are not visibly affected by the consumption of unhealthy foods, these foods often have a negative impact on their arteries and other parts of the body. For the basic reason of being healthy, it is important to consider with great caution what we are putting in our bodies. For example, some of the worst food that we can put into our bodies is fast food. Oftentimes, fast food contains no nutritional value and contains excessive calories and fat. Other junk foods, such as cookies, chips and sodas work the same way, and studies have shown that consuming this type of food can cause acne and breakouts.

New research shows that foods that are high in fat and sugar, otherwise known as foods that have a high glycemic load, are associated with and often cause acne. The reason behind this is because when these types of foods are consumed, a person’s insulin levels consequently spike, which causes the body to produce an inflammatory response. When this happens, a variety of hormones are released that affect the sebaceous glands, in turn causing them to produce more oil.

For reasons mentioned above, it is definitely worthwhile to discover foods that are beneficial to the skin. Although the skin has the ability to heal itself, some acne scars are permanent, which have the ability to cause emotional trauma to a person. Some of the most beneficial foods to the skin include fruits because they have natural sugars and are low in fat (lemons, oranges, watermelon, and raspberries), vegetables like avocados that leave the skin soft, yogurt because it helps to unclog pores, and also water which help to flush out impurities from the skin and body.

As you can see, when we feed our bodies with healthy foods it tends to show through our skin. Simply putting the right things into our bodies can help to avoid breakouts while also making us feel great.
